Review-Avaritia by Matthew Ortiz
Book Title – Avaritia Author – Matthew Ortiz Publisher – Matthew Ortiz ISBN/ASIN -B00M5N3TBC Genre – Romance > M M Romance Welcome all to Maquintock Bay. A sleepy little town a few hours north of Boston on a picturesque stretch of New England coast. The town’s folk live a quiet life away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the simpler life, even if just north of them dwell the infamous Oswald family. The Oswald Estate is only minutes north of the town but most people avoid it. The town’s history tells of witches and supernatural events at the stately mansion. Is there truth to the rumors? Witches aren’t real, are they? Prodigal son William Oswald Blackthorne has come home to take his place as head of Oswald House and his family. He sets about renovating and repairing his family home since it had fallen into disrepair. All seemed to be going well until he butted heads with his obstinate siblings, an overbearing aunt and the opinionated staff. Just when he thought everything was hitting its stride, Rushford Harrington ,the head of the construction company, refuses to send his men to the house. Who the hell does the man think he is? No one tells an Oswald ‘no’! Rush Harrington has his hands full. His workers are frightened. The gossip about Oswald House has made it near impossible to find workers to do the renovations his company promised. Now the Oswald family members are making his life crazy with abrupt changes to the renovation plans. When he attempted to talk to William Oswald Blackthorne, the man refused to speak to him. So Rush pulled his teams. Next thing Rush knows, a handsome and irate blond man barges into his office and into his life; Rush realizes that nothing is ever going to be the same! |
This is an incredible story. I love a book that grabs you from the beginning. I also love when you aren't sure where the tale will take you. This book has those qualities, as well as being long enough to suck my in. All of the characters are fascinating, and Matt Ortiz has taken the time to explain the how and why to his witches. It is the beginning of a wonderful series that rivals The Black Dagger Brotherhood. It has the same feel as those books, and in my book, that's a hell of a ruler to be measured by. Three hundred years ago, three Oswald witches, William, Duncan, and Oliver, were put to death for being witches by the townsfolk while the youngest brother and the parents were out of town. As they were getting ready to be hanged, they spoke three curses to the towns people. One, by Duncan, cursed the love of his life to never find rest. William, the eldest, cursed the Harringtons and their descendants to a life of misery. Ollie cursed Maquintock Bay to fail and fall. William Oswald Blackthorne is the head of the house for Oswald manor. He moved back to help his family. He is the eldest of the 4 children, and very successful. His brothers, Duncan and Oliver, and his sister, Jamie, along with one aunt live in the estate. They are all witches, and their family has the strongest magic around. William is restoring the family home and has hired Harrington construction to do the work. Being an alpha male, William expects excellence. When he has to go talk to Rush Harrington after work comes to a halt, he is unprepared to find the love of his life. His bondmate is the opposite of him in many ways except the temper. They fight, but they desire each other just as fiercely. But the town still fears the Oswalds. History hasn't lessened the animosity, and it will take work to even get the families to support them. Being powerful witches, the family has many threats coming at them, even including the most powerful demon they have ever faced. It had killed William's parents, and his mother was the most powerful witch and the head of their magic. Can Rush except what William is? Can they find love with each other? How much danger will Rush be in if he accepts the bondmate? Will the demons kill him to get to William? The family faces many dangers as they come together. Can William and Rush find happiness? Is the Oswald magic strong enough to protect the family? There are so many twists and turns in this book you will be itching to get your hands on the next book to find out what happens next! This is going to be an epic series, so buckle up and hang on! |
