For the past eight years, Sara has lived an austere, lonely existence with only the company of her two “boys”, Petey the bird and Felix the cat. She gave up on finding a steady guy to catch a movie or go to dinner with years back. Her last boyfriend told her she was not exciting enough to hold his interest. So what is she...chopped liver?
Working the last shift on Christmas Eve as usual, Sara succumbs to the encouragement of one of her favorite elderly customers, who has been asking her for years to make just one wish on Christmas Eve. After all, the sweet little old lady genuinely believes herself to be a fairy godmother. Oh, sure...
Usually Sara just pretends to make a wish...but for once, she accidentally makes a real one. A man to share Christmas Eve with. A hot, delicious man to make her forget her lonely existence and to give her some new holiday memories to last her a lifetime. Is that too damn much to ask?
It’s fun to pretend…fun to wish for what you can’t have. But when a mugger steals her purse and leaves her in an icy slush puddle, even pretending won’t make her damn life easier to bear!
When a stranger picks her up out of the slushy street and carries her to her little apartment, it looks as if maybe her little fairy godmother might have worked out a miracle for her holiday, after all. One night of incredibly hot sex…a man to die for…and enough memories to keep her warm for a long time to come.
Too bad she can’t keep him. Or can she?
What other surprises does her fairy godmother have in store?

I enjoyed this story very much. The way the author writes made me connect with all the character easily and effortlessly. When I opened the first page I was drawn right into the story and didn't put it down till it was done. The story flowed easily from one characters point of view to another characters point of view.
Kara is a simple girl who lives with her cat Felix and her bird Petey. She works on Christmas Eve because she enjoys helping the last minute shoppers and she doesn't have anyone special to go home to except her cat and bird and they don't care if she comes home late.  One particular customer named Mrs.Gilhooley always asks the workers to make a Christmas wish. Mrs. Gilhooley asked Kara, and in the past Kara just pretended to make a wish, this year a real wish popped into her head. Mrs. Gilhooley claims she is a fairygod mother and she won't have a problem making Karas wish come true.
Kara has a horrible night after work. But in her disaster a gentleman ends up helping her out in more ways than one. His name is Frank. I love how the dialogue between these two goes on. It is so sweet, cute and funny. I laughed quite a few times reading about these two. Even the sex is not only hot but also wrote in a way that makes me smile. I love hot sex in the story but I love it even more when it can make me smile.
Do you believe in fairygod mothers? Do wishes come true? After reading this wonderful short story, I am in correct in believing that the answer is yes.  I will recommend this book to my friends and I can't wait to read more from this talented author.
