Pain, abuse, brutality. That was my life. I struggled and stressed; cried until I forgot what tears were. But I worked hard. I clawed to the peak.

And then I lost everything.

Most people would have shattered.

I'm not most people.

My dreams are gone, but that's fine. I could have lived this tiny, broken life. I could have suffered in silence.

Until I met her: Noel.

God, she's so alive. She makes me ACHE and I just...

I can't ignore her.

So I won't.

Noel thinks she can handle me. Survive me.

If she knew the truth—could see into my mind—she'd smarten up and run.

I'm so lucky she doesn't have a clue.

--Author's Note-- This novel is a stand alone. It contains scorching sex, violent themes, and mature situations that could make readers uncomfortable.

A USA Today Bestselling Author, Nora Flite loves to write new adult romance (especially the dramatic, gritty kind!)

Inspired by the complicated events and wild experiences of her own life, she wants to share those stories with her audience.

Born in the tiniest state, coming from what was essentially dirt, she's learned to embrace and appreciate every opportunity the world gives her.

She's also, possibly, addicted to coffee and sushi.

Not at the same time, of course.

I adore Nora Flite's writing. I loved her Body Rock series and the book Only Pretend. This book is as good or better than those ones. It digs deep, combining gritty darkness and ballet dancing. I know, you are thinking- How? Seamlessly! It is a beautiful story wrapped in darkness and despair. The characters are so different, yet so similar. I loved the darkness in Carter. he is so easy to care about after you see how he got to be where he is. And Noel is so driven and determined, her strength is fascinating. This read will stick with me for some time.

Carter started dancing when he was very young. His home life turned into a horror show before he even had a chance, His parents abused him and beat him. Told him how stupid he was, what a failure he was. If he didn't win a competition, they would berate him and yell that he didn't try. He was so young, yet destroyed by their actions and words. They even threatened to kill his dog. So he trained harder and didn't lose any audition for two years. He was shutting down inside by 18. His parents were openly dealing drugs, his parents had killed everything good in his heart. He used women, never able to open his heart.

Noel was a talented dancer, she loved doing what her mom had done. She was going to go dance where her mother danced in Paris. She had promised her mother because her mother was dying of cancer. Her mother passed away, not knowing she had gotten in to a very elite ballet, Noel did not tell her. She wanted to dance where her mother danced.

When Carter's parents were murdered and his house burned down, he had nothing. The day of their funerals, there was an audition for the San Francisco Ballet. He had to go, he danced, but he noticed every flaw. Disgusted, he ran out of the theater before the decisions were told. He was attacked by people who knew his parents. One of them smashed and broke his knee. In a rage, he killed one of the attackers. And it fed the evil inside of him. It made him feel free. In the hospital, Mr Vince showed him that he had gotten in, only he couldn't with the broken knee. A failure again. Mr Vince hired him to teach in Paris. As soon as he could, he left for the school. Noel arrived in Paris and was accosted by a group of thieves. Carter saved her and disappeared. She found the school and made it work. When she came in early to train, she saw Carter dance. She was in awe. She fell for Carter, but his way of love was harsh, he wanted to hurt her. She needed him, he fed something in her. As hard as he pushed, she pushed back. He cared for her, but was scared for her. She was determined to help him. When they find out something about the school, the teacher becomes a dancer. But all is not well in Paris. Nothing ever comes easy and this is no exception.

Can they over come all the odds? Will Valerie destroy everything because of envy and greed? Can they save the school? Does anyone really get more than one chance in life? This book is gritty and raw and emotional. It is an incredible journey through a dancer's world. I could not put it down and I look forward to reading it over and over. Grab a copy and hang on for a wild ride!
