In the blink of an eye, Josey lost the most important people in her life, her parents.

Can a hound dog named Cookie, a pair of Mourning Doves and a passionate vet bring the holiday spirit back into Josey's life in time for Christmas?

Josey has a rough year. Her parents were killed in an auto accident and then her so called boyfriend dumped her because she was getting to depressed to be around. Her parents left sister kept trying to get her to do different things. She sent Josey a link for a pet adoption and made Josey promise she would go and at least look at the animals. Maybe she would adopt an animal and not be so lonely.

Clint runs the Emergency Animal Hospital and has a heart of gold. He doesn't have anyone either and is lonely also. When Josey and him meet, you can tell they should be together. They get along very well and he offers to help her in finding a pet.  Josey is drawn to "Cookie" which is part Basset Hound and part coonhound and Josey falls in love with Cookie at first sight. Cookie also has had a rough month. His owners were killed in an auto accident and he was hurt really bad. He had bad incisions on his body and in order to keep them clean, Clint put a diaper on Cookie. Everyone bypassed Cookie because of the way he looked but when Josey walked by him, he picked her to be his new owner. Josey took one look at him and felt a peace finally.

Now through this whole story there are two love birds who talk to each other and talk about Josey and how they keep an eye on her and want her to be happy. I think these two are such sweet birds and makes me wonder what the birds outside my house are saying about me.

With all these great characters in the story makes this such a wonderful story at Christmas time. The holidays are always hard on people and since Josey lost her parents a year ago, this holiday still is hard for her. But when she meets Clint and then Cookie, everything falls into place for her. There is no sex in this book and I love that. Two people come together because fate seen they needed each other. If you are looking for a very sweet Christmas story about two people who find each other because of a dog named Cookie that needs both of them. This is the kind of story everyone needs to read at this time of year.
