Deputy United States Marshal Mitch Knox apprehends fugitives for a living. His calm, cool, collected attitude and devastatingly handsome good looks earn him a well-deserved bad boy reputation, both in the field and out. While away on an assignment, he blows off some steam at a notorious Dallas nightclub. Solving the case that has plagued him for months takes a sudden backseat to finding out all there is to know about the gorgeous, shy blond sitting alone at the bar.
Texas State Trooper Cody Turner is moving up the ranks, well on his way to his dream of being a Texas Ranger. While on a two-week mandatory vacation, he plans to relax and help out on his family’s farm. Mitch is the last distraction Cody needs, but the tatted up temptation that walks into the bar and steals his baseball cap is too hard to ignore.
As Mitch’s case gains nationwide attention, how will he convince the sexy state trooper that giving him a chance won’t jeopardize his life’s plan...especially when the evil he’s tracking brings the hate directly to his doorstep, threatening more than just their careers
I had read the first book in this series and I was curious as to where the second book would go. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that as a first for me, the sequel is even better than the first book. Plus, we get to see Colt and Jace again! This book focuses on the sexy Federal Marshall from book 1. I loved this book because it has the suspense of a gripping mystery combined with a heart melting romance all wrapped up in the perfect package. Kindle Alexander has an amazing gift of pulling the reader along while not broadcasting the ending. I love these kinds of stories the best. Two story lines entwined together perfectly. It is a beautiful story about dedication, determination, and persevering against all odds. The friendships and the romance are also incredible.
Mitch Knox is an openly gay Deputy Marshall. He is 33 years old and lives in Louisiana. He is a macho, alpha male, no nonsense kind of guy who is very good at his job. He was called in when Colt was attacked in Hawaii.
Cody Turner is a State Patrol officer. At 26, he has just been promoted to Mounted Patrol with aspiations of becoming a Texas Ranger one day.
Deputy Marshall Mitch Knox has been trying to find the persons responsible for a string of hate crimes against high profile gay men. Ever since Colt was nearly killed in Hawaii, Mitch had been working the case on his own time, seeing as how the Marshall's office wouldn't sanction the case. For 8 months, Mitch had struggled to figure it out. When a senator's gay son is attacked and caught in a bombing attack, the FBI decides to call in Knox, finally deciding that his theory has merit. It is the break he was waiting for. Only problem in this is the fact that he had just met Cody at a gay bar in Dallas and he was finding himself drawn to the man like never before. Before they could even get to know each other, Mitch is called to Washington DC to work on the task force. Cody was scared of even thinking about Mitch. He believed Mitch was way out of his league. Cody saw himself as a small town guy compared to Mitch's rock star persona. Plus, his sister had always kept him focused on his career, whereas Mitch was a huge distraction. Mitch has to work extra hard for every inch from Cody. But, he does convince Cody to come spend a few days in DC with him and their relationship takes off like a rocket. Both men are scared by the intensity of their feelings, but Mitch is not about to back down because he wants what Jace and Colt have and he feels it with Cody. Mitch's take no crap attitude does not go over well with his new partner from the FBI. Mitch quickly figures Conners out, but the politics of Washington is hampering their investigation. The bad guys hadn't made a single mistake until the Senator's son, yet they still were stymied and running out of time. Bad things start happening, and Mitch is distracted because he is in love with Cody. When the bad guys strike too close for comfort, Mitch pulls out all the stops to catch the evil ones behind the latest attack. But something isn't adding up and they may not be at the end. Can their new relationship stand up to the demands of the case? Will the hate get too close to home and cost them more than their love? Will the team be able to find the perps who are killing and injuring high profile gay men? Or will they be lured into a game of cat and mouse? I cannot wait for book 3 of this series! This book was a total page turner, I am not even sure I was blinking. I didn't want to miss a thing! If you love great suspense coupled with an incredible love story, this is your book. I absolutely loved this book!
