| Much like the other books in this series, it features a strong yet, insecure controlling male (Trenton Maddox) lead, that is trying hard to stop being how he is to win the girl he loves. It also showcases a female (Camille "Cami") lead who is unsure of where she stands and is resistant to allowing in one of the famed Maddox brothers. Cami in countless ways stressed the fact that she has a boyfriend (known as only T.J. throughout the book), thwarting advances of the very alluring, very sexy, irresistible Trent, knowing the history all the brothers seem to carry with them. A reputation as womanizing, man whores. But, of course this couldn't last long with the brother who looks identically to the infamous Travis "Mad Dog" Maddox. Trent Fell in love with the girl long before she could ever know. Too terrified to come forward to a woman who he sees as far better than he could ever deserve. We learn (much like we did with Travis Maddox in Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster) that there is a hidden soft side that shows through the bad boy exterior. Spends every moment he can trying to make her see him for who he is not what he was. And he is the man who will love her until his last breath and even beyond that. He is the ONE for her and he will not stop until she sees it. This book will pull at you, you will tear up, you will laugh, you will even fall in absolute love with little Miss Olivia, Trent's best friend and five year old neighbor. The way he is with this child only makes you fall more in love with his character and really wish he was making advances at you instead. They're "so blessed". I would have given the book a full 5***** stars if it hadn't felt like I was reading nearly the same book as the other two. So I give is 4 **** stars out of 5. It was as entertaining and emotional as I expected from the amazing Jamie MacGuire. And, it made my heart happy to read it. . |

| I will admit in the beginning of this book I was a little unsure. I had heard nothing but good thoughts and read very positive reviews, so I trudged on dutifully knowing not all can be revealed in the first chapter. But, as I got about 8 pages in I was grasped by the story and it's characters. I felt myself being thrust through every twist and turn and, as though I was watching an action packed thriller on screen. The world of magic and elementals is explained in an all new light giving the reader great perspective as no other author has ever managed to do in my opinion. The religious undertones that arise throughout the book would usually turn me off, forcing me to accuse the author of pretentious misguided views put forth by yet another person that has not properly done their research. (Yes I have read quite a few books like this and, I am very well educated in theology and polytheistic religions.) But, to my utter surprise, Rick Chiantaretto has made it not only work within the parameters of his book but, also has done his research. (If I'm honest I was crushing on the authors knowledge just a little bit.) I give this book a definite 5 ***** stars and will leave my fingers crossed for it to turn into a series. Perhaps book two will have a bit more about the secondary characters to fulfill my extreme curiosities. |

Review-The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself
From the very first sentence of this book I knew. I knew this would be different from anything I had read before and, I also knew this book would change the way I look at the events in my life. This book pulls you in in such a way that you are turning page after page, unaware of the passage of time, unaware of the events happening around you, just completely oblivious to anything but the world you're now walking in. In this book, you follow the life of a man named Nicholas as he experiences drugs, alcohol, infatuation, obsession and, even love. As he learns the differences between raves and parties. And, as the music that he listens to seems to speak directly to him, giving a soundtrack to his life. You grow to admire his artistic individualism and love him despite his flaws and overtly nymphomaniac mentality. Each word pulled me in, dragged me along and made me truly feel (extreme emphasis put upon that word) the emotion that was put behind them. It felt as though I were reading an "ode to" or poignant poetry, with the way the narrator spoke.

For being a debut novel I am impressed. The way the author writes has a way of pulling you in and making you feel. And, this book will make you feel. The characters are relatable and real which, in my case, is hard to find. I can not say enough about this book. The anger, strong wills, love and emotion conveyed on each page is palpable to say the least. I found myself feeling every moment and, even tearing up at times. Finally a book with a single father that is there for his child. Avery and Jackson find themselves on a road that will bring them through ups and downs, ins and outs, and I promise you will want to be there for every single moment!! A definite must read!! |
