Bravery is being the only one who knows you're afraid.

When Navy SEAL training pushed Lieutenant Josh Walker to his limit, Chief David Flint’s stern heart-to-heart—more like boot-to-ass—helped Josh realize his potential. When the holidays found them alone together and sharing a mutual attraction, they couldn’t help breaking a few regulations. And nearly breaking some furniture in the process.

Years after their short-lived fling, Senior Chief Flint returns to SEAL duty and finds himself under the command of the man he’s never been able to forget: Lieutenant Commander Walker. And Josh hasn’t forgotten David, either. Rules be damned, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Despite their discretion, another SEAL catches on and threatens to expose their relationship, forcing Josh to bend to a blackmailer’s demands to avoid strife within the team just before a dangerous mission. David is the last man he can confide in…and the first to pick up on Josh’s tightly screwed-down stress.

When a life-or-death decision calls Josh’s leadership into question, coming clean could cost him what he values most. His coveted trident…and the man he loves.

WARNING: Contains a pair of Navy SEALs who don’t like playing by the rules, scorching-hot sex between two Alphas who like to be in charge, cursing as only Navy men can curse, lots of camouflage and badassery in the wilds of North Korea, and enough emotion to sink a battleship.

This is an incredible read about two very Alpha men and their difficult journey. I have read a bunch of military themed books, but this one really got to me. The characters are well rounded, the story line is unique, their relationship is fascinating, just an all around great book that I am adding to my favorites list. I could not put this book down because I never knew where the story was headed and I was so engrossed in the book. I read it in one evening, not even realizing the time moving. That is my favorite kind of book. One where you completely forget you are reading, the story so good you feel like you are watching it unfold instead of reading a page. This is a great story, and it is interesting how in the military one can go from commanding someone to them out ranking you. I really loved that part in this book. Much different than most military themed books. Very well done.
Lieutenant Josh Walker meets Chief David Flint in BUD/S school. Flint is one of his instructors. After getting in trouble, David tells Josh that he is harder on him because he sees real leadership potential in Josh. While they are all on holiday break from training, the two of them have a very hot one night stand. But fear of getting in serious trouble has them avoiding each other. A few years go by, then they are brought together when Flint returns to active Seal duty. Now, Josh is a LC over Flint's Senior Chief. But even with the time apart, neither man can forget how perfect they were together, they quickly hook up again. They decide to have a relationship on the down low because they could be in very serious trouble if anyone found out. But they weren't careful enough. Their team is about to be deployed on a mission when one of the team confronts Josh and tries to blackmail him. With only hours before they leave, Josh decides to hold off dealing with that until they return. If they return. When the mission goes sideways and one of the team is seriously injured, a command decision has the blackmailer ratting them out to the team. Now their whole lives could be over, if they survive the mission.
This book has so much suspense in it, I had to pry my hands off my e reader. It is such a gripping tale of duty, fear, and love. I think I aged a few years towards the end of the book. Suspenseful is an understatement. This is a great read and I highly recommend it if you love stubborn alpha men who are super sexy. This is one hot read that will stick with me. Might have to read it again...
