After a near fatal car crash leaves him scarred both physically and emotionally, Matt Harmon finds the solitude of his huge, lonely house too much to bear. Hiring nurse James Hayden to look after him seems like the best idea for Matt, whose fierce independence has been compromised by his injuries. The two men clash from the start as James struggles to help Matt rebuild his shattered body and heal his crushed soul. The bond they form is forged in fire and ice, and the wounds they inflict on one another can only be erased by Matt's admission that he can't live without James's loving touch. Will Matt realize too late that James is the only one who can rescue him from himself?
Rescue Me by Scarlet Blackwell was a book about overcoming self-doubts and accepting who you are. Matt finds himself in a terrible position after surviving a bad car wreck. He is bed bound, needs a nurse and he finds out his friends are gay. All of this may have been ok if he had not started noticing how attractive his nurse, James, is.
I was not sure if I would like this book, but I decided to give it a try. I am glad that I did. It shows the struggle that people go through when they begin to doubt their sexuality, and how they overcome their fears. You will find yourself feeling many emotions about Matt. You will love him and hate him by turns.
I give this book 4 stars. I really liked this book because the characters were easy to relate to. The plot was endearing because it shows love in a way that most stories shy away from. I look forward to reading more from this author.
